Fuel Management Course

Learning goals

You will be familiar specific needs that can arise from future fuel regulations; what to expect when changing between fuels; the consequences for ship operators in ECAs; the affect fuel quality can have on the fuel cleaning plant and engine operation; and how to adjust the fuel cleaning plant for optimal performance.

Target group

The training is aimed at both sea-going and shore-based staff, technical as well as operational.

Course fee

Standard FMC + Distillate (all three days) USD 2,250 (excl. VAT) per participant.

The fee includes:

  • Dinner on day 1
  • Mid-morning and afternoon coffee and tea breaks
  • Lunch on first, second and third day

 "Early bird" discount: If you register 2 months in advance or earlier, you will get a 15% discount on the participant fee.

Special 2-day course October 15-16 in Cape Town. Course fee: USD 1700.

Special 2-day course August 27-28 in Senegal with a focus on Power Plants

  • Crude oils - sources/compositions
  • Petroleum fuels demand
  • Marine Fuels qualities worldwide
  • Fuel testing - accuracy of test methods
  • Damage to machinery
  • MARPOL Annex VI ECA
  • Capabilities of the fuel treatment plants
  • System know-how
  • Optimal fuel treatment
  • Centrifuge operation
  • Emergency operation

Day 3:

  • Gas oil - sources/compositions
  • MARPOL Annex VI, ECA
  • Fuel testing - accuracy of test methods
  • Damage to machinery
  • Capabilities of the fuel treatment plants and recommended installation
  • Optimal fuel treatment
  • Centrifuge operation

This training is arranged by Alfa Laval and Veritas Petroleum Services and is a mix of lectures and group work with case stories.
