OLMI Primary Quench Exchanger S&T Type
Alfa Laval Olmi shell-and-tube primary quench exchangers (TLE) rapidly cool hot gas from hydrocarbon cracking furnaces, stopping secondary reactions and maximizing ethylene yield while generating saturated steam. Optimized cooling and robust design ensure reliable, low-fouling operation and easy maintenance for continuous productivity.
Reliable operation with reduced maintenance and higher yield
- Exceptional operational reliability and long service life
- Minimal coking and reduced maintenance requirements
- Improved yield with reduced by-product formation
- Efficient energy recovery
- Flexible design for standalone units or complete systems
Designed for demanding quench conditions, the solution combines robust construction with features that minimize coking and protect critical components. This supports stable operation and simplifies maintenance over time. By improving heat recovery and reducing unwanted by-products, it contributes to higher process efficiency and overall plant performance, while offering flexibility to fit different system configurations.
How it works
Hot cracked gas from the furnace enters the TLE, where it is rapidly cooled to stop secondary reactions and reduce the formation of unwanted by-products. This fast cooling is essential for maintaining product quality and maximizing process yield.
The optimized tubesheet design ensures efficient heat transfer while minimizing fouling, supporting stable and reliable operation under demanding conditions. Continuous cooling of critical components helps protect against erosion and thermal stress, extending equipment lifetime.
The design also allows for effective removal of deposits and simplified cleaning, enabling operators to maintain performance with reduced downtime and maintenance effort.
