Double seal valves

Alfa Laval double seal valves are cost-effective mixproof valves that safely handle the simultaneous flow of two different products or fluids through the same valve without the risk of cross-contamination. These standardized top-loaded pneumatic valves are ideal for hygienic applications that require additional safety, leakage detection and Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) across the dairy, food, beverage, home-personal care and many other industries.

How does a double seal valve work?

Alfa Laval double seal valves are controlled by means of compressed air from a remote location. The pneumatic valves are fitted with two pneumatic normally open (NO) valves – a leakage detection valve and a CIP valve. The valve has a double sealing system with a plug that has two seals; the space between these seals forms a leakage chamber under atmospheric pressure. The leakage detection valve discharges any product leakage to the leakage chamber. The leakage chamber may be cleaned by supplying a CIP system into the leakage detection valve. The double seal valves are insensitive to water hammer in the product line above the plug.
