Alfa Laval's solutions contribute to the UN Global Goals
The United Nations has adopted the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, known as Global Goals, that world leaders have pledged to achieve.
DATE 2023-11-28The goals call for worldwide action among governments, business and civil society to end poverty and create a life of dignity and opportunity for all within the boundaries of the planet. The goals present an opportunity for business-led solutions and technologies to be developed and implemented to address the world’s sustainable development challenges.
As a company, Alfa Laval works to improve gender equality, to be a good employer and to innovate for the benefit of our customers and society. Beyond being a responsible company, Alfa Laval’s products and solutions contribute to the achievement of many of the UN Global Goals. The picture below gives an overview of some areas where Alfa Laval products and solutions can contribute.
Many of the goals relate to increased energy efficiency and reduction of carbon emissions. The world’s demand for energy continues to increase. Alfa Laval offers heat exchangers that are more efficient than alternative technologies. Higher efficiency not only reduces costs, but also carbon emissions. In most processes, heat transfer solutions are required for heating, cooling, ventilation, evaporation or condensation, which can all be achieved efficiently using Alfa Laval heat exchangers.
“I’m proud that Alfa Laval’s solutions contribute to many of the UN Global Goals. In 2017, we sold heat exchangers to a project in Germany that will reduce carbon emissions by 20,000 tonnes per year. This is just one example of how our heat exchangers contribute to Sustainable Development Goals 7, 9, 11, 12 and 13“ says Susanne Pahlén Åklundh, President Energy Division.
