Alfa Laval to drive water transition dialogue at Global Water Summit 2026 in Madrid

As global temperatures rise and only 7% of water is reused in Europe, the world faces a critical water security challenge. With half of all wastewater still untreated and 90% of the Sustainable Development Goals dependent on water, the need for resilient, circular, and digitally enabled solutions has never been greater.

At the Global Water Summit 2026 in Madrid, Alfa Laval is part of the conversation driving innovation, collaboration, and action to accelerate the water transition and empower industries to build operational resilience for a changing planet.

Water reuse through the lens of Alfa Laval

Industrial and municipal water reuse is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of global water security strategies. Alfa Laval advocates for a shift from simply meeting regulatory criteria to proactively treating individual waste streams at their source, enabling more effective water reuse and resource recovery. For example, Alfa Laval’s Iso-Disc® cloth media filters are advanced tertiary treatment solutions that significantly improve effluent quality, making safe discharge or non-potable reuse possible while minimizing energy and chemical consumption. By leveraging such efficient and scalable technologies, Alfa Laval helps customers not only reuse water but also recover valuable nutrients and energy from wastewater and sludge, supporting circular water economies and reducing pressure on freshwater sources. This holistic approach ensures that water reuse delivers meaningful, long-term environmental and operational benefits-transforming water from a cost center into a strategic resource.
