Alfa Laval at New York Climate Week 2026: Challenge Accepted

From energy efficiency to biosolutions and digital infrastructure, Alfa Laval is bringing proven solutions and a clear message to one of the world’s most important climate forums, taking place in New York between 20–27 September 2026.

New York Climate Week is where the world’s most influential voices in business, government, finance, and civil society come together around a single agenda: accelerating climate action. Organized by the Climate Group, this year’s conference runs under the theme Energy. Impact. Action., a call to move beyond ambition and into delivery, connecting to the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference COP31 in November.

As one of the world’s leading providers of heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling technologies, Alfa Laval sits at the intersection of three of the most critical challenges on the global climate agenda: accelerating energy efficiency, scaling biosolutions and resilient food systems, and building the digital infrastructure the transition depends on, efficiently and sustainably.

Our message this year is clear: Challenge Accepted.

The solutions exist. The technologies are proven. The projects are already under construction at industrial scale, with real customers, in real markets, right now. New York Climate Week is our opportunity to show what that looks like.

What we are doing in New York

Energy efficiency and electrification
Alfa Laval is in New York to drive the push for energy efficiency as the enabler for electrification and as a crucial tool for energy security, energy affordability, and industrial competitiveness. Without energy efficiency, electrification would require enormous investments in power generation, grids, and storage infrastructure. Electrification is the backbone of the global energy transition and how we move towards cleaner, smarter energy for everyone. Energy efficiency makes this possible. Its critical role in enabling electrification will be the fundament in our discussions during New York Climate Week.

By partnering up alongside fellow members of the Energy Efficiency Movement to host a high-level roundtable discussion, Alfa Laval, Siemens and ABB discussions will evolve around the implementation of the Montréal Collaboration Framework, shaped at the IEA’s Global Conference on Energy Efficiency in Montréal in June. The framework is a model to foster collaboration between industry, financial institutions, and policy makers, an important tool in the global push to double the rate of energy efficiency progress by 2030.

Data centers and digital infrastructure
As digitalization accelerates the demand for greater computing power, data centers face power densities and growing energy needs. At the same time, they are evolving into integrated elements of the future energy system, where energy efficiency, flexibility, and smart total plant energy optimization can enable data centers to consume less energy from the start, unlocking new opportunities for innovation, resilience, and growth.

Alfa Laval’s heat transfer solutions supporting liquid cooling and heat reuse technologies, enable data centers to operate with less energy, reduced water consumption, and can unlock opportunities in heat reuse to return to district heating networks and surrounding buildings.

At New York Climate Week, Alfa Laval is contributing to the conversation on how energy-efficient digital infrastructure can support both economic development and climate goals.

Biosolutions and resilient food systems
The global agrifood system is at a crossroads. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and a growing global population are placing unprecedented pressure on our ability to produce sufficient, nutritious food within planetary boundaries. Biotechnology, biosolutions, and nature-based innovations are critical enablers of the transformation needed, and the challenge is no longer developing the solutions. It is creating the markets, investment frameworks, and partnerships needed to scale them.

At New York Climate Week, Alfa Laval, together with Bayer and the Consulate General of Denmark in New York is hosting a high-level, invitation-only biosolutions roundtable, convening leaders from government, industry, philanthropy, multilateral organisations, and civil society. The roundtable will explore how public-private partnerships can bridge the gap between biosolutions innovation and implementation to scale biotechnology for more resilient, productive, and sustainable food systems:.

Myth Smashers: Food processing under the spotlight
Not everything we think we know about sustainability in food and beverage processing is true. At Regen House, Alfa Laval’s Sheldon Young, Business Development Manager, Food & Pharma Division, is hosting ‘Food Processing Myth Smashers Challenge: Finding Impact and Value’, an interactive session designed to challenge common assumptions, surface evidence-based insights, and identify where the real sustainability gains in food and beverage processing lie.

Grounded in Alfa Laval’s global experience across dairy, beverage, edible oil, alternative proteins, and precision fermentation, the session connects real-world technology capability with the practical challenges facing producers navigating the global transition today.
