How industry is influencing COP30 outcomes
The business case for climate action and adaption is no longer a theory – it’s here, it’s proven, and it’s urgent. Across industries, public–private partnerships are taking shape, and momentum is building.
Government officials and European Union ministers are calling on industry to speak up, share solutions, and demonstrate that scalable, ready-to-deploy technologies exist. The goal: unlock the investments needed to accelerate change.
For Alfa Laval, this means connecting policymakers with solutions that are affordable, available, and scalable today. Operating in more than 100 countries, we engage with decision-makers, authorities, and industry organizations at local, regional, and international levels — sharing knowledge and perspectives from the industrial sector to help shape effective climate strategies.
Bringing the industrial perspective to COP30
As the world engages in the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, from 10–21 November 2025, Alfa Laval was part of the broader business community influencing the policy discussions that will define the next decade of climate action.
Through our involvement in Sustainable Business COP’s (SBCOP) Energy Transition Working Group and Sustainable Cities Working Group, Alfa Laval contributes to policy recommendations that support a global and equitable energy transition ahead of COP30.
Alfa Laval’s delegates Anna Celsing and Anna Hall ensured that the perspective from the industrial sector was heard. The Energy Transition Working Group advocates for doubling energy efficiency improvements, tripling the use of renewables, and advancing low-carbon fuels. The Sustainable Cities Working Group focused on leveraging cities' capacity for innovation, investment, and implementation to accelerate the necessary shift. These priorities are now firmly on the COP30 negotiation agenda.

Alfa Laval has also engaged in the International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC) COP preparations with Anna Celsing as vice chair Global Energy and Environment Commission. On behalf of businesses worldwide, the ICC has outlined four key priorities* for a successful COP30:
- Recommit to ambitious climate plans - Governments must deliver bold national climate plans aligned with 1.5°C, co-designed with business, to drive real investment.
- Unlock climate finance - Reform financial rules and create a clear roadmap to scale private investment in emerging markets, removing barriers that hold back capital.
- Integrate adaptation - Make adaptation central at COP30 and unlock greater private sector action and investment for resilience.
- Strengthen carbon markets - Enhance governance and confidence in high-integrity carbon markets, Article 6, to mobilize capital and innovation for climate solutions.
