More and more hygienic manufacturers are adopting a try-before-you-buy approach before investing in new equipment. One such company is a leading European sauce manufacturer looking to upgrade its pump technology.
Before investing, the company conducted extensive trials of several pump types at the Alfa Laval Application & Innovation Center. Following the trials, the company decided to upgrade the entire pump fleet.

Putting pump performance to the test
The challenge presented by the sauce producer was clear: upgrade the existing pumps while maintaining performance, improving cleanability and ensuring gentle handling of delicate sauce formulations.
A series of validation trials at the Alfa Laval Application & Innovation Center provided the answers. Using real recipes, the customers’ own ingredients and process conditions mirroring the company’s own process setup, the trials demonstrated that the DuraCirc® pump was the ideal next-generation solution.
Replacing more than 40 pumps
Based on the trial results, the company decided to replace more than 40 pumps across its operation.
