How it works

The Alfa Laval high pressure spiral heat exchanger is a circular, single-channel heat exchanger with two concentric spiral channels, one for each fluid. Able to withstand high temperatures and pressures of up to 100 bar, it makes easy work of tough duties, such as recovering maximum heat energy from bottom residues. It also provides optimum heat transfer and flow conditions for a wide variety of fluids. A key advantage is proven cost savings that result from the heat exchanger’s self-cleaning effect. Unlike bulky shell-and-tube heat exchangers that must distribute flow into multiple channels, 100 percent of the process liquid flows into the curved single channel of the spiral heat exchanger.

With no fouling, there’s no extra heat is required from the furnace. That cuts both fuel costs and emissions. Plus reducing your carbon footprint isn’t the only footprint that gets cut down to size. The high pressure spiral heat exchanger also has a much slimmer profile and therefore has a smaller installation footprint than comparable technologies, which reduces installation costs, too.
