Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing and performing activities described in the ASME VIII and ISO 9001 Quality Manuals concerned with the quality assurance of manufacturing processes, welding, NDE, raw materials, and final products.

Expectations & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the implementation of our ASME and ISO Quality Systems including auditing, handling of nonconformance’s, document control, training, and problem solving
  • Defines, supervises, and conducts welding and welder qualification tests, generating and maintaining welding procedure qualification records and welder performance qualification records
  • Coordinates, approves, and monitors Nondestructive Examination (NDE) activity (internal and outsourced), including maintaining procedures and personnel qualifications
  • Generates customer-requested documentation related to product or process compliance, including ASME data reports and nameplates
  • Plans and conducts inspections, measurements, and/or tests to assure the quality of products or components

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities of the Successful Candidate:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical engineering discipline required
  • 3-5 years of experience working with ASME Pressure Vessel Code, National Board Inspection Code, ISO 9001, ASTM material specifications and test standards, and other related international and national codes and standards
  • 3–5 years of experience implementing quality assurance processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of ASME VIII and IX Code Rules [Certified Individual preferred]
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements [Certified Lead Auditor preferred]
  • Knowledge of welding processes, symbols and inspection methods [CWI preferred]
  • Knowledge of lean six sigma tools and methodologies required [Green Belt certification preferred]
  • Ability to communicate clearly with customers, both internal and external
