Owners of hygienic processing plants who want to enhance the performance of the standard clamp butterfly valve are likely to find that the new Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve provides great value, offering the benefits of a flange valve at a very attractive price level.
“Alfa Laval is continually looking to develop new technology and bring new ideas to market,” says Keld Bak, Portfolio Manager, Valves, Sanitary Equipment at Alfa Laval. “The butterfly valve is a well-established product, but we’ve still been able to improve it and offer our customers something unique.”
Reduced inventory costs
Although completely different in construction, the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve shares common parts with Alfa Laval LKB butterfly valves, providing parts inter-changeability for all seals, discs, bushings, handles, actuators and control units. This versatility means that the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve can easily be used in existing systems, facilitating migration and greatly reducing capital investment in spare parts inventory. This common design also makes it possible to introduce and integrate both the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve and LKB valves into the same plant, and benefit from the use of exactly the same spare parts and accessories.
Certified by EHEDG
As is the case for other Alfa Laval butterfly valves, the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve is certified according to the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) standards, ensuring that the valve lives up to the most stringent hygienic demands.
To enable quick and convenient inspection of the seal, the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve features a unique construction that easily retracts the welded connection components. If replacement is required, disassembly is easily handled by loosening the counter holding nuts with an Allen key.
“All told, these seemingly minor design innovations provide plant owners, operators and installers alike with major advantages,” says Bak. “By rethinking the design, we have clearly made improvements to the ordinary butterfly valve that are apparent in the new Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve.” Flexible operation and control
The Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve can be operated in either manual or automatic mode. For manual operation, the options are many, including a handle capable of a full 360-degree rotation into any position and a multi-position lockable handle. For automated operations, the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve can be equipped with the Alfa Laval LKLA pneumatic actuator and Alfa Laval ThinkTop control unit.
“Butterfly valves are strategically important products for our customers,” adds Bak. “Alfa Laval continues to build on our market leadership established by the Alfa Laval LKB valve by introducing butterfly valve products with brand-new features and benefits for our customers, such as the Alfa Laval Clamp Butterfly Valve and the Alfa Laval Unique Control for the LKB. Our aim is to be the technological leader in the market, thus we boost our channels with strong products that can be sold with a higher focus on features and benefits instead of only on price.”
